Hunters Moon near Okehampton is an ideal base for touring
Devon & Cornwall being centrally located and easily accessible from
the A30, also an ideal place to relax and escape the ‘rat race’ and
enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our beautiful Devon countryside.
To the North is the rugged North Devon and Cornish Atlantic coastline with it’s
stark cliffs and lovely sandy beaches.
To the South lies Plymouth
with it’s Naval Dockyard and the pretty towns and
villages of Torquay, Dartmouth, Looe, Polperro and the more placid
English Channel.
The Market Town of Okehampton with it's fortnightly Farmers
Market and ancient castle ruins is only six miles away.
The ancient Stannary town of
Tavistock with its mediaeval Abbey is only a short drive away and
has a daily Pannier Market and fortnightly Farmers Market. Tavistock
and the surrounding area is now a World Heritage site.
Within
1 hours drive or less are the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of
Heligan, the Garden House, RHS Rosemore, Paignton Zoo, Plymouth
Aquarium, Morwelham Quay and many National Trust properties and
gardens including Cotehele, Saltram. Lanhydrock, Castle Drogo and
just in the next village is the spectacular Lydford Gorge with it's
famous White Lady waterfall.
Beauty spots such as Dawlish, Lynmouth, Clovelly, Bude, Boscastle
and Tintagel are all within comfortable reach.
The surrounding area offers ample golfing, riding, sailing,
canoeing, fishing, cycling and walking facilities plus lots more. Also the ancient
ruins of Lydford and Okehampton castles, and not forgetting Dartmoor with it’s
breathtaking scenery and of course the famous Dartmoor ponies.
